Grief is often viewed as something to overcome, manage, or move beyond. Yet throughout history, many psychological and spiritual traditions have understood loss as a transformative process—one that changes not only our circumstances, but our identity, worldview, and relationship with ourselves.
This workshop explores grief through the symbolic and psychological lens of alchemy, drawing from Jungian psychology to understand loss as an initiatory journey of transformation. Together, we will examine how the alchemical stages of nigredo (descent), albedo (purification), citrinitas (illumination), and rubedo (integration) mirror the emotional landscape of grief, including experiences of denial, anger, despair, acceptance, and meaning-making.
Participants will learn how grief often involves the dissolution of old identities, assumptions, and expectations, while simultaneously creating the conditions for new insight, growth, and psychological wholeness.
